El Dorado Promise Benefits Felt Before College

Five years after the El Dorado Promise scholarship program was introduced to the students of the El Dorado, Arkansas School District, the program’s impact has reached further than the pocket books of college-bound students.  Students from Kindergarten through twelfth grade are shifting trends in enrollment, test scores, drop-out rates and graduation rates.

U.S. Senator Mark Pryor to Speak at Academic Signing Day 2011

U.S. Senator Mark Pryor will be the keynote speaker for Academic Signing Day, which will feature recipients of the El Dorado Promise scholarship program. 

The fifth annual Academic Signing Day will be held at 1:30 p.m. on April 28 inthe El Dorado High School gymnasium. The event will celebrate more than 260 graduating seniors who will be receiving El Dorado Promise scholarships, as well as others. 

The Promise, announced in January of 2007, is a $50 million scholarship programfunded entirely by Murphy Oil Corp.

President Bush to Speak at Academic Signing Day

The Honorable George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States, will be the keynote speaker for Academic Signing Day, for recipients of the El Dorado Promise scholarship program.
           

To take place Thursday, April 22, in the El Dorado High School (EHS) gym, the fourth-annual event will celebrate more than 250 graduating seniors who will be receiving El Dorado Promise scholarships, as well as others. El Dorado Promise Expands Flexibility of Scholarship

Murphy Oil Corporation announced today that it is expanding the El Dorado Promise Scholarship program to allow more flexibility for students and families in El Dorado looking for ways to afford a higher education.  

Established in January 2007 and funded by Murphy Oil Corporation, the El Dorado Promise is a scholarship program covering tuition and mandatory fees that can be used at any accredited two- or four-year, public or private educational institution in the US. The maximum amount payable is up to the highest resident tuition at an Arkansas public university.

El Dorado celebrates second anniversary of Promise scholarship program

The meaning of the word “promise” has been redefined for students in El Dorado since an incredible scholarship program was announced in the gymnasium of the El Dorado High School two years ago this week, according to Cindy Langston, marketing director for the El Dorado Promise and El Dorado Forward. 

When asked what a “promise” means, El Dorado kindergartners have said that it means they get to go to college for free. Because of the El Dorado Promise, students enrolled in the El Dorado School District now have hope that college is an option.
